Volunteer Opportunities in Zambia

Whether you’re passionate about education, community work, wildlife, or healthcare, Zambia provides rewarding placements that directly support local development.

Education & Youth Development

Join local schools and youth centres to support lessons, coach sports, and provide after-school care. Many children come from low-income families, and volunteers play an important role in offering extra support, encouragement, and creative learning.

Healthcare & Public Health

Healthcare volunteers assist with community health outreach across multiple villages. Tasks may include health talks, basic first aid, nutrition assessments, HIV/AIDS awareness, and supporting local clinic teams. This is ideal for volunteers interested in health, social work, or medical careers.

Community Development

Help improve daily life in rural communities by supporting small farms, visiting households, collecting community data, running hygiene workshops, or assisting women’s groups. This is a hands-on program that provides deep cultural immersion.

Wildlife & Conservation (Chimpanzee Care)

Zambia’s wildlife faces threats from habitat loss and poaching. Volunteers at conservation sanctuaries help with behavioral research, enrichment activities for chimpanzees, farming work, and supporting general sanctuary operations. This is perfect for wildlife lovers seeking meaningful field experience.

Where You Will Volunteer

Livingstone is the main hub, offering close access to Victoria Falls and a warm, vibrant community.

Rural placements allow you to live in peaceful villages, learn traditional customs, and experience life off the beaten track.

What to Expect

Cultural Immersion: Simple living, warm hospitality, and the chance to learn traditions, stories, and way of life from local families.

Impactful Work: Projects are community-driven, so your contribution supports real needs.

Unique Adventures: Explore the Zambezi River, spot wildlife, learn traditional dances, or spend weekends at Victoria Falls.

Support System: Travellers Africa provides orientation, trained coordinators, and ongoing assistance throughout your stay.

Costs & Budgeting

Volunteers generally spend 10–15 USD per day on meals, transport, and basic personal expenses. Zambia is affordable, and budget planning is easy with local guidance from Travellers Africa.
