In total, we offer courses in over 15 different languages in more than 20 destinations! With help from our language teachers, you will improve your speaking, reading and writing skills with ease. You may surprise yourself with how quick and easy learning a foreign language can be when you are immersed in it overseas! We will tailor the course to your needs by speaking to you personally and adapt the course to how you like to learn.

These language courses are ideal if you want to start learning a foreign language or to brush up on your existing skills. Your exact timetable will be agreed on arrival, so the hours fit in with your volunteer placement. We recommend that to fit in a 60-hour add-on course that you are on a placement for at least 12 weeks.

Please be aware that add-on language courses are not available alongside all projects, in particular many Conservation projects. Please check with us if you are unsure.

If you want to sign up for a 14, 30 or 60 hour add-on language course, simply include it on your application form. Please make a note on the form where it asks if you have any “placement preferences”. Alternatively, you can call us on +255 655 70 352

Swahili is a Bantu language spoken in both Kenya and Tanzania. The Swahili language has been influenced by Arabic and more recently also by English. One of Swahili’s attributes is that its pronunciation is straightforward compared to some other languages.

You can learn Swahili in Kenya or Tanzania with a Projects Abroad language course. You can take part in an intensive course which lasts from two weeks upwards.

Alternatively you can combine your Swahili language course with another Projects Abroad placement in Kenya or Tanzania. These prices are in addition to your main project price.

With accommodation in the home of a local family, you’ll learn quickly and can practice what you’ve learnt with your hosts each day. Lessons are with a qualified language teacher and are tailored to your personal level and can be adapted to your interests and preferred teaching style.
